Kingdom Hearts Rebooted- My Way

Hey, I'm back! I'll be writing sporadically from now on, so expect way fewer entries in 2017! Anyway, you've read the title, so you know what this is: how I'd make a Kingdom Hearts reboot. Or to make it clearer, what I would include in a Kingdom Hearts game were I to make one.

Let me start off by making one thing clear: I am going off on the idea that I'd be making a REBOOT of Kingdom Hearts, not another entry in the main series. This means no Sora, Riku, Kairi, Organization XIII, Xehanort, and so forth. This is 100% a reboot. Second, as this is a Disney and Square-Enix game, I'll limit myself on which properties from both companies I can use. For the Disney side, I'll limit myself to the works of Walt Disney Animation Studios, and Pixar. From the Square-Enix side I'll only allow myself the chance to use the Final Fantasy and Valkyrie Profile (hey, we need some Enix in here!) series, in the same style as the original KH series. That means I can use characters, but not worlds, from said series. And from Final Fantasy, I'll use only the numbered series, not the spin offs.

My Kingdom Hearts game will not star Sora. Rather, I'll make a new character named Sara (I know, I know...) who is Princess of the world known as Xine. The Kingdoms of Xine and Disney have held an alliance for centuries, keeping a pair of weapons known as the Keyblades locked away in their dungeons. These Keyblades can only be used by the royals, and only in the direst of circumstances. One day, the wizard Yen Sid summoned the King of Xine, Eraqus, for a meeting, from which he never returned. Fearing for her father, Sara goes to the dungeon and takes the Keyblade, intent on leaving for Disney Kingdom to find answers. Her personal knight, Firion (from Final Fantasy 2) advises her to take the Royal Gummi Ship. (He also offers the Battle Tutorial)

At the Disney Castle, Sara learns from Queen Minie that not only had Yen Sid disappeared months ago, but that the King of Disney, Mickey, had gone to look for him. Minnie had recently received a letter from Mickey stating that not only was Yen Sid gone, but there was a dark force aiming to destroy all known worlds. This dark force was controlled by the vile enchantress known as Maleficent (from Seeping Beauty), and according to Mickey, only the Keyblades can stop her. Fearing for her husband's life, but above all fearing for all the worlds, Minnie asks Sara to take her Keyblade and aid her husband in fighting Maleficent. To aid her, Minnie summons the two best fighters in all Disney Kingdom: Captain Goofy of the Royal Guard, and Grand Wizard Donald Duck. Together, the trio set off on an adventure where they'll never know who they'll run into next...

Woo! Ok then, now that we have the basic story out of the way, here's a list of worlds I came up with, both original AND Disney inspired:

Original Worlds:

1- Xine Castle: starting world, revisitable. No hostiles, as it is protected by the best knights in the Universe. Home to Sara, Firion, and Lenneth (from Valkyrie Profile). Firion offers a battle tutorial, and whenever Sara uncovers new techniques to learn, Firion will teach her how to use them. Lenneth, for her part, offers to train Sara on how to use Summons, and will offer Sara her very first Summon in the game: Bambi. Also includes appearances by Steiner (from Final Fantasy 9, Firion's supervisor) and Galuf (from Final Fantasy 5, serving as Sara's private tutor)

2- Realm of  Rare Beasts: a world unimportant to the main plot, full of sidequests. As the name states, it's a world where rare and beautiful animals reside, without any humans or the forces of darkness to threaten it. However, poachers from other worlds tend to come here to hunt animals, and it is up to Sara, Donald, and Goofy to stop them. Home to chocobos, (various Final Fantasies) Moogles, and Red XIII (Final Fantasy 7)

3- Star Command: a space station that's home to the Star Rangers, a group of warriors dedicated to fighting off evil. Their greatest hero, Buzz Lightyear (from Toy Story), leads the charge against Maleficent. Sara and company arrive here in hopes of gaining more information on Maleficent's forces. Buzz Lightyear himself offers his services, becoming a Summon.

4- Wild Frontier: a Western-style world that's dry, hot, and full of bad guys. This world, however, is protected by a plucky cowboy named Woody (from Toy Story). World Ally: Woody.

5- Starlight City: a hub world that is home to the item shop, synthesis shop, Gummi shop, and a Colosseum. The synthesis shop is owned by Remy the Rat (from Ratatouille) where he instructs Sara on how to cook and make new items. The item shop is headed by Scrooge McDuck himself, who traveled from Disney Castle in search of new fortunes. The Gummi shop is run by Cid Highwind (from Final Fantasy 7). The Colosseum is where the player can fight various unique bosses, including the Onion Knights (Final Fantasy 3), Tifa (Final Fantasy 7), Arngrim (Valkyrie Profile) and others.

6- The Realm of Darkness: the final world.

Disney Worlds:

1- Disney Castle: Needs no introduction. The home of Queen Minnie, Lady Daisy, Sir Horace Horsecollar, and Donald's nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie.

2- Sherwood Forest: From Robin Hood. A forest kingdom ruled by the tyrannical Prince John, in league with Maleficent in order to keep control for himself. World Ally: Robin Hood.

3- Ant Island: from A Bug's Life. A tiny island that is home to an ant colony, terrorized by an evil grasshopper named Hopper. Hopper's evil heart is summoning the darkness to his world, bringing forth untold terror. The world's strange magic turns Sara, Donald, and Goofy into ant versions of themselves.

4- Lost Jungle: from The Jungle Book. A dense forest that is home to various animals, the evil Shere Khan prowls in search of humans. Although some humans exist, Donald's magic turns Sara into a panther, Goofy into a tortoise, and Donald into an eagle. World Ally: Baloo the Bear.

5- Agrabah: from Aladdin. Needs no further explanation, really. World Ally: Aladdin.

6- Sea of Islands: from Moana. A collection of small islands across a vast, living ocean. Home to the demigod Maui, who eventually becomes a Summon. Maleficent comes here in search of the monster crab Tamatoa, whom she seeks to recruit.

7- Hundred Acre Wood: enough said.

8- Wonderland- from Alice in Wonderland.

9- Land of Dinosaurs- from Dinosaur. A prehistoric world currently under siege by Maleficent's darkness. Sara turns into an iguanadon, Donald into a pterodactyl, and Goofy into an ankylosaurus. World Ally: Aladar.

10- Pride Lands- from The Lion King. Ruled by the evil King Scar, who stole the throne from the true king, Simba. Scar's evil heart is attracting the forces of darkness, and it is up to Sara to find Simba and restore the realm. World Ally: Simba.

11- Arendelle- from Frozen. A kingdom currently frozen by Elsa, formerly their Queen until her secret magical powers were revealed by accident. A young prince named Hans is currently trying to restore order alongside his future bride, the Queen's younger sister, Ana. World Ally: Kristoph.

12- Concert Hall- a hub world that allows you to fight against mini-bosses from Fantasia and Fantasia 2000. Bosses include fights against the brooms from "Sorceror's Apprentice," the Jack-in-the-box from "The Nutcracker," and the Firebird from "Firebird Suite." NOT Chernabog, though.

13- Litwak's Arcade- a special arcade full of minigames, including Wreck-it-Ralph, Hero's Duty, and Sugar Rush.

And now, a list of Summons that I would include. There are four summons you get for playing the story, which are:

1- Bambi: prances about and heals your MP and HP.

2- Maui: Maui can assume the form of an eagle to attack a single enemy or the form of a bull to strike against multiple enemies.

3- Buzz Lightyear: Flies around the battlefield, zapping enemies with his laser. One of the few summons to have a "Limit Break" with Sara, where the two combine their power to perform one ultimate attack. In this case, Buzz shoots Sara's Keyblade, which charges it up and deals triple damage. Buzz then leaves the battle.

4- The Genie: acts like he did in Kingdom Hearts 1.

There are also 4 secret summons that need to be earned:

1- Wreck-it-Ralph: Can pound enemies, taking a percentage of their health. His Limit Break with Sara allows him to pound the ground, dealing tons of damage to all enemies present. Obtained by getting perfect scores in Wreck-it-Ralph, Sugar Rush, and Hero's Duty/

2- Elsa: The hardest Summon to obtain, can only be gotten by beating the boss of Arendelle in under a minute. Her ice magic causes damage that cannot be blocked. Her Limit Break is a snow storm that deals damage and paralyzes all enemies for five seconds.

3- Mister Toad: from The Adventures of Ichabod and Mister Toad, obtained by winning 20 fights in a row in Starlight City's Colosseum. He gets on a motorcar and drives around, drawing all enemies towards him. He lasts for 20 seconds on the battlefield before he leaves.

4- Kevin: from Up, obtained after beating all the bosses in the Realm of Beasts. Can be used as a mount by Sara, boosting her movement speed and allowing her to do unique combos.

And that's what I'd do for Kingdom Hearts, were I to make one.
