Man, with GamerGate, #NotYourShield, Quinnspiracy, and all this controversy surrounding gamers, it feels like we're living in a crossroads of destiny, where what we do today will decide the fate of our subculture. So today, here's something just for fun: a small list of animals that NEED to have Pokemon designed off of them.
1- The Pink Fairy Armadillo
This has to be the EASIEST animal to base a Pokemon off of. Come on, look at it! It's like God Himself said "I'm gonna design an animal so that Nintendo can make a Pokemon off of it. MY WILL BE DONE!" All it needs are bigger eyes, a cartoony pair of antennae, and you have yourself a Ground/Fairy type Pokemon. Like I said, it designs itself!
2- The Aye Aye
See this? This is an Aye Aye.It is a type of lemur, one of the largest nocturnal primates in the world. Look at it. Look. At. It. That's a live action Pokemon right there. Even it's NAME sounds like a Pokemon! "Aye Aye." We have Farfetch'd, we have Lickylicky. we have Ghastly, we have Hoothoot, and now we can have Aye Aye. You know, you don't even need to make it any more cartoonier, it's cartoony enough as it is. This can be a Normal type Pokemon, or if you're feeling ambitious, a Dark Type. They could be super rare, purely nocturnal, and you can only catch them by using Headbutt on certain trees.
3- The Caracara
And yet we have another animal whose name just BEGS to be made into a Pokemon! And in fact, it WAS! In Japan, Cubone's name is actually Karakara! Interesting tidbit, learned it today. Anyway, here we have the potential for a Normal/Flying type Pokemon. Wait wait, don't go yet! See, I'm thinking that the Caracara Pokemon could be to Normal/Flying types what Tauros is to Normal types: a strong Basic Pokemon that can be a valuable, if overshadowed, addition to any team. Sure, you can choose Fearow, Swellow, Pidgeot, but...I just defeated myself. Hey, they can't ALL be good!
4- The Caracal
A truly majestic creature, the Caracal is an African breed of wild cat. Just...just look at it. The beautiful ears, the dignified pose, this truly is one of nature's most beautiful creatures. I feel like I've not much else to say, really.
5- The Cassowary
A particular type combination I'd like to see is Flying/Fighting, and I think the Cassowary is the perfect animal to inspire that Pokemon. These beasties may look cute, but trust me when I say they are a terrifyingly powerful bird who take crap from no one. Perfect for a Fighting type Pokemon!
6- The Siberian Tiger
I want a Water/Ice starter Pokemon based on the Siberian Tiger. No, I mean it, this tiger is absolutely perfect for a Water starter. You start off as a cub, and when it reaches its final evolution it's a white tiger with an ice collar around its neck and a tail made of water. It can also have saber teeth made of icicles! That'd be cool!
