In the year 1998, the Sega Dreamcast was released to the excitement of fans all over the world. To prove the console's power, Sega released the then long awaited leap to 3D for their best-selling franchise: Sonic the Hedgehog. The big 3D debut's name was Sonic Adventure. My excitement for the FF7 Remake has considerably died down in  comparison to how excited I was in 2016, to the point I'm preparing myself to accept it's not coming. However, as I ruminate about the remake I'd been waiting a while for, a question popped up: what's the big deal about remakes?

I may be late to the party, but this is a blog entry I feel needed to be made. Netflix' latest casting call for the role of The Witcher's own Ciri (whom in the books/games is pale skinned, ashen haired, and green eyed) has stirred the Internet for all the wrong reasons. Rather than speculating which actress would fit the role best, we've once again entered the Culture Wars because the casting sheet has called for a BAME (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic) (read: nonwhite) actress. What's the big deal?
